We invite fire equipment manufacturers and suppliers to join the Fire Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (FEMA) in its efforts to save lives and protect property.
Full membership in this Association shall be open to persons, firms, associations, corporations, or divisions of corporations that are engaged in the manufacture and production of fire protection equipment; whose products are listed or labeled by a nationally recognized testing laboratory, if applicable; and that have significant manufacturing and/or processing capabilities and national distribution and marketing. As used in Article IV, “manufacture” includes having equipment or supplies manufactured by another entity to one’s exclusive trademark or trade name.
A firm or persons applying for membership in FEMA, in addition to the above requirements, must have been actively marketing a product applicable to this industry for a period of at least one year before applying for membership. Upon the Board of Directors’ unanimous vote, a company that does not meet the one-year requirement may apply for membership. If accepted, this company’s membership will be on a one-year probationary status, at which time it will be reviewed and proper action taken.
Upon acceptance of a company as a Full member, such company is eligible to participate in activities of each Division in which that company manufactures and sells qualifying fire protection equipment and products.
A member company’s representative to the Association needs to be an employee of the member company.
Associate membership in this Association shall be open to persons, firms, corporations, or divisions of corporations having a significant interest in the industry that manufacture supplies used in fire protection equipment or that provide services, other than distribution, to fire equipment manufacturers who qualify for membership as defined in Section 1, but do not produce or sell fire protection and related equipment in its finished form.
